The Gift of the Pause: Finding Stillness in a Busy Season

The Gift of the Pause: Finding Stillness in a Busy Season

There is a unique energy to this time of year, a whirlwind of lists, events, and expectations. But as the year draws to a close, I find myself feeling a different pull: to pause.

I want to gently challenge you (and myself) to do something that feels almost radical in our modern world: Disconnect.

Shut Down the Noise

For a few days, or even just a few hours, I invite you to turn off the news and step away from social media. Our screens often fill our minds with a relentless buzz of worry and comparison. When we shut them down, we can allow ourselves to take a deep breath and re-center.

Finding Peace in Grace

For me, this stillness is where I find my greatest strength. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, and during this season, I find myself overwhelmed by the incredible grace He has shown me. Despite my mistakes and my faults, His love remains a constant.

That grace gives me a peace that stays with me even when things go wrong or feel like they are falling apart. It is a comfort that I hope everyone can experience, a reminder that we are valued for who we are, not for our errors.

Honor Your Traditions

Whatever holidays you celebrate at this time of year, I encourage you to relish their traditions and cherish the history of their meanings. There is such beauty in the rituals we pass down.

Be in the moment of your family’s holidays as if you didn’t have a care outside of this time (this time). Let the world wait. May peace be with you as you share your beliefs and your heart with your loved ones.

Return to the Stillness

Do you remember the days of your youth when everything seemed to stop for Christmas break? There was a magic in the quiet, a joy in being present without the weight of the world on our shoulders. I challenge you to reclaim a piece of that feeling:

  • Be Still: Resist the urge to rush in a dozen different directions.
  • Be Present: Really listen and look at the people in front of you.
  • Be Kind to Your Spirit: Take whatever break you can to revel in happy memories and good family fun.

Reflecting on what truly matters and shutting out the worries, even for a short while, will do a world of good for your spirit and your outlook as we head into a new year.

From my studio to your home, I wish you a season of true peace and restoration.

With warmth and grace,

 ~Patti
